Mission: To foster the spiritual and moral development of urban youth, especially those associated with St. Luke’s Church. Many of our youth are Cambodian in background and have special challenges in growing up in a low-income city with few services for young people. We help these youth navigate the rocky terrain of an urban childhood by exposing them to the moral and spiritual perspective of the Episcopal Church.
Has an ‘urban youth formation’ program of which a Monday afternoony youth group is an important part. The Rev. Jim Hornsby, Janet Buckley-Smith, and Doeung Kham lead the group, which is an informal time for basketball, conversation with friends and leaders, and help with homework. Church members and their friends as well as neighborhood youth are welcome.
Provides a number of cultural enrichment activities (taking youth to local symphony, for instance).
St. Luke’s Thrift Store operates September thru June. Donations sought.
